ALIA MVSICA was created in 1985 with the aim of performing medieval music, as well as to study and interpret Judeo-Spanish music according to the ensemble’s own analysis and the latest musicological researchs on the subject. The ensemble is considered by skilled criticism as one of the best performers in present field of early music.
The ensemble has given numerous concerts in Spain, Europe, Sudamerica and the United States of America. They have participated in the Festival “Voix et Route Romane” of Strasbourg, International Early Music Festival of Wroclaw (Poland), International Festival of Varna (Bulgaria), International Festival in Granada, Festival International de Musique Sacrée de Montpellier, Les Concerts Spirituels de Nantes, Senās Mūzikas Festivāls in Letonia, Festival Internacional de Santander, Palace of Culture at Sofia, Prado Museum (Madrid), Elizabethan Theatre in Washington, Cemal Resit Rey Konsert Salonu (Istambul), Palazzo Spagna in Rome, Vredenburg in Utrech, Queen Elizabeth Hall of London, Stedelijke Concertzaal De Bijloke of Gent (Belgium), Kaufman Concert Hall and The Cloisters (Metropolitan Museum) in New York.
The ensemble has produced several critically-acclaimed CD recordings, which have been awarded various prizes (“CD Compact”, “5 Diapasons”, “Lyre d’Or”, “5 Goldberg”, “Diapason d’Or”, “CHOC Le Monde de la Musique”, “10/10” Classics Today). The ensemble records exclusively for the label Harmonia Mundi.
Recently ALIA MVSICA has performed in the Festival Banchetto Musicale in Vilnius (Lituania), Musée du Louvre in Paris, Royal Palace in Warszawa (Poland), Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca, Hofkapelle der Residenz of Munich, Musikinstrumenten Museum in Berlín, Tage Alter Musik of Regensburg (Germany), and Rencontres Internationales de Musique Médiévale du Thoronet (Francia).
